Public consultation

There is a public consultation for proposed engineering works at a footbridge which crosses the railway line in Sutton Bonington, Nottinghamshire. This consultation specifically relates to an upcoming temporary closure of the footbridge for approximately 10 weeks.

JNP Group are preparing a Diversity Impact Assessment (DIA) on behalf of Amalgamated Construction (AMCO) and Network Rail. The purpose of the DIA is to assess the impact of the proposed engineering works on characteristics that are protected by the Equality Act (age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation and marriage/civil partnerships). Once the potential impacts have been identified, the DIA can be used to plan ways to mitigate them wherever possible.

The footbridge is accessed to the west from Bollards Lane and to the east from an unnamed track, which connects to Landcroft Lane. The footbridge carries a Public Right of Way Footpath. Please click here to view aerial online mapping of the footbridge. Photos of the existing footbridge and a location plan are also attached to this email for your reference.

The footbridge needs to be refurbished in order to ensure the longevity of the structure. In order to carry out the works, the footbridge will be fully closed for around 10 weeks. The start and end dates are yet to be determined. There will be no formal, signed diversion route in place during the closure, as Nottinghamshire County Council have identified that there are no suitable routes along other Public Right of Way Footpaths. Signs warning of the closure will be placed in the vicinity of the footbridge two weeks before it is closed.

With regards to the information above, they would appreciate it if comments on whether the temporary footbridge closure will have an impact on the stakeholders that your organisation represents.

Please provide a response via email before Friday 14th February 2020. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the team by emailing ellen.lishman@jnpgroup.co.uk.
